Bulgarian Deputy Interior Minister Kaloyan Miltenov participated in the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg.
During discussions on Schengen and migration, he highlighted the declining number of irregular border crossings while stressing the need for continued operational readiness, stronger external border protection and enhanced cross-border police cooperation.
The Deputy Minister called for improved early-warning mechanisms, effective return and readmission procedures, and closer cooperation with third countries.
He also reaffirmed Bulgaria’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and organised crime, including violence and intimidation linked to drug distribution.
