What is the thematic scope of the articles which can be published in the journal?
Police Faculty Bulletin publishes only articles covering issues related to the fight against crime and order maintenance, i.e. articles which can be referred to professional fields: 9.1. "National Security", 3.6. "Law", 3.7. "Administration and Management", 3.2. "Psychology", 3.8. "Economics". If the submitted articles fall outside this thematic scope, they will not be published, but we can recommend journals you can refer to.
Are there any layout requirements for the papers?
The publishing policy stipulates that submissions must comply with the requirements set forth in the Publication Requirements section. These requirements follow international unification standards which ensure wide availability of and publicity for the materials. The papers must be up to 15 pages (including bibliography), and the number of tables and charts must not exceed seven in total.
To facilitate formatting their paper, we recommend that authors use the attached file in the Publication Requirements section, which is designed to meet the accepted standards. Authors need to pay close attention to the structure of the introduction and the keywords, which will facilitate thematic searches. If the submission does not meet the accepted layout requirements, it will be returned to the author for correction.
How can I submit an article for publication in the Police Faculty journal?
Authors may submit articles via the email address which can be found in the Contacts section of the journal. The articles must be sent as attachments to an informal email in which the author states their interest in having their paper published. A sample-based declaration must also be attached to each prospective contributor’s email, officially claiming authorship of the respective paper as well as declaring that they are familiar with and accept the rules and ethical standards of the journal.
We recommend that you download, complete, scan and then send the sample declaration which can be found in the Publication Requirements section.
If a paper has more than one author, every one of them is required to send a separate declaration. The declarations can be attached to one and the same email or sent as several different messages.
What is the submission review procedure?
We apply the dual-anonymous peer review principle to every submission. Upon reception, a paper is anonymized by the journal secretary and is then presented to the reviewers. Thus, the author’s identity remains unknown to both the reviewers and the editorial committee. The aim is to ensure that the decision whether to publish a specific article is made in an unbiased and objective manner, based solely on its scientific merit. The journal has a comprehensive system in place which guarantees that the anonymous review principle is observed at every stage of the procedure.
What is the reviewers’ role?
The reviewers give their opinion with regard to the scientific merits of the submitted papers in accordance with the journal criteria and standards. They may propose an article for publication, reject it or make recommendations to the author(s) about any emendations deemed necessary. If a reviewer has made such recommendations, the author(s) must bear in mind that their paper will be published only provided that these recommendations are taken into consideration. More information concerning our review system can be found in the Rules for Reviewing section.
What is the role of the editorial committee?
The editorial committee is a collective body which is headed by an editor-in-chief and assisted by a secretary. The committee selects two reviewers form the Bulletin’s list of reviewers who have to evaluate the respective article taking into account its thematic scope and subject matter without being aware of the author’s identity. The editorial committee makes the final decision for the publishing of each article which has successfully passed the reviewing procedure. The editor-in-chief is responsible for the running of the journal. The secretary receives the publication submissions, anonymizes them and keeps in contact with every author throughout the reception, reviewing and publication stages.
Am I entitled to receive information concerning the results of the different stages of the reviewing procedure?
You will be apprised of the results of each stage of the application and publication procedures. Feel free to contact the journal secretary to discuss issues related to your paper.
Any information regarding the results of the separate stages which your submission has gone through is confidential and is not shared with third parties.
You are entitled to information about everything pertaining to your submission, apart from information about the reviewers’ identities as well as how the separate members of the editorial committee have voted during the discussions.
We believe that efficient communication between the team of the Police Faculty journal and our contributors is a crucial prerequisite for the accomplishment of our mission.
When can I expect my paper to be published?
The submitted papers are processed, reviewed and handed over for printing within 4 months of their receipt. If a contributor has their article returned to them with recommendations for emendations, this period may be extended. The editorial committee also issues a document acknowledging that a submission has been approved for publication prior to its printing.
Am I entitled to a fee and a copy of the journal issue where my paper has been published?
Every author who has had their paper published in the journal is entitled to a fee which is paid in accordance with the rates stipulated by the Academic Council of the Academy of the Ministry of the Interior and under the terms of a freelance contract which they have signed. They also receive a printed copy of the journal issue where their article has been published.
