Chief Directorate "Border Police", Ministry of Interior is beneficiary of project "Development of the cooperation in the Schengen area" under Home Affairs Programme Norway Grants 2014-2021.

Duration of the project – 32 months
Budget: 1 200 000 euros
The maximum amount of the grant submitted to the beneficiary is 100% of the total eligible costs of the project.
The overall objectives of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 are to contribute to the reduction of economic and social disparities in the European Economic Area and to strengthen bilateral relations between Norway and the Beneficiary States.
Objectives of the project:
- Increasing the capacity of the Chief Directorate "Border Police" for border control tasks performance;
- Improving the qualification, knowledge and skills of the employees of Chief Directorate "Border Police";
- Strengthening the bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and Romania and Bulgaria and Greece;
- Effective implementation of compensatory measures at the internal borders by modernization of the technical means.
Envisaged activities:
1. Increasing the efficiency in border management of the Bulgarian-Romanian and Bulgarian-Greek borders by improving the working conditions of the employees;
2. Improving the technical capacity for border control in the areas of responsibility of Regional Directorate "Border Police" Ruse and Regional Directorate "Border Police" Smolyan;
3. Capacity building, incl. knowledge and skills of the employees of the Chief Directorate "Border Police" by conducting specialized trainings;
4. Cross-border cooperation with Romanian and Greek border police institutions
Expected results:
Improving the capacity of law enforcement authorities in crime prevention and investigation;
